MRS KINGS PORK PIES

Elizabeth King started her family bakery back in 1853 and the standards she set are maintained today by the Hartland family. They use the original 1853 recipe which starts by making hot water crust pastry, bringing boiling water and lard together then pouring onto strong wheat flour and adding sea salt to taste. Forman & Field Open Day 2016

Saturday 27th February we hosted another of our annual open days here at Fish Island, and (if we do say so ourselves) it was such a great day! Around 700 of you came along and made the day so enjoyable. We had so much going on and something for everyone; from competitions and tasters, to tours and carving demonstrations!

Visitors were greeted at the door and invited up to our Gallery, with a smorgasbord of food to taste on our stalls, a bar with extra food and drinks, a competition stand, and stunning views of the Olympic Stadium opposite. Read more...

Smokehouse Tour Group

 

This year we launched our Smokehouse Tours to all our customers. Now everyone has the chance to experience what so many corporate groups before them have; to dive into the world of Formans!

Their day started off with a 30 minute talk on the history of H. Forman & Son (going back over 100 years!) led by our king of Smoked Salmon, Lance Forman .  Following on from this, guests were kitted up in factory clothing, looking gorgeous of course, and made their way to the factory floor for a carving demonstration by our very own Guinness World Record Holder, Darren Matson. LONDON CURE SMOKED SALMON SET TO GET SPECIAL EU STATUS

Last week was full of congratulations for us at H. Forman & Son, as it was announced on ITV News London on Friday 11th September that we are on the verge of being awarded European protected status for our London Cure Smoked Salmon. Protected name status means that under EU law foods, such as the Cornish Pasty or Melton Mowbray pork pies, can be produced only in those named parts of the world.

When granted, it will be the first London food or drink to be awarded such recognition, and will put us alongside the likes of household names such as Champagne and Parma Ham. Read more...

Event video: Whisky & London Cure Smoked Salmon

Our East London events space Forman’s Fish Island often works with household names. Last year, Glenfiddich saw the perfect opportunity to pair their Scottish whisky with H. Forman & Son’s London Cure smoked Scottish salmon, inviting hundreds of whisky fans to sample this gourmet food alongside their wonderful Scotch. 

Guests were treated to a smoked salmon carving demonstration by our very own Guinness World Record holder, Darren Matson, whilst their expert cocktail mixologist raced against the clock to keep up with Darren’s speedy carving! It was a wonderful evening spent in Forman’s Fish Island’s spectacular 7500 square feet art project and event space, overlooking the Olympic Stadium. Read more...

We all know good food doesn’t come cheap. Now we know too that cheap food may not only be bad, it may not even be the product it claims on the label. The pressure to reduce costs ever further inevitably leads to bad practice. It’s a national scandal, and rightly so.
