Forman & Field Open Day 2016

Saturday 27th February we hosted another of our annual open days here at Fish Island, and (if we do say so ourselves) it was such a great day! Around 700 of you came along and made the day so enjoyable. We had so much going on and something for everyone; from competitions and tasters, to tours and carving demonstrations!

Visitors were greeted at the door and invited up to our Gallery, with a smorgasbord of food to taste on our stalls, a bar with extra food and drinks, a competition stand, and stunning views of the Olympic Stadium opposite. Read more...

Open Day – Easter Egg Hunt results

Many congratulations to Filey Hathorn and Niki Stevens on winning the Easter egg hunt at Saturday’s open day. We’ll be sending each one of Paul Wayne Gregory’s fantastic handpainted eggs.

If you were puzzling over the locations they were as follows:

Clues

  1. Find me where we smoke our famous salmon­­­­­­­- ON THE KILNS
  2. Find me at the stall of the largest lowland organic farm in the UK­­­­ – GOODWOOD ESTATE
  3. I’m hiding with one of Britain’s biggest and best cheese suppliers – CHEESE CELLAR
  4. Ask the Shoreditch Blonde or Baltic Street Porter for a clue – THE REDCHURCH BREWERY
  5. Find the marzipan balls and you’ll find me too – SIMPLY DELICIOUS CAKES
  6. In Lancashire they make a very fine Italian dish  – find the producer – PUGH’S PIGLETS
  7. This egg is hiding with our favourite Easter ham – ALDERTON HAM / COUNTRY VICTUALLER

Find the Fish – the result!

On Friday 15th June at precisely 12.00 BST we will be announcing the winner of our Forman’s Jubilee Bake Off competition! We’ve been working our way through the entries, testing puddings and cogitating over cakes. We were absolutely bowled over by the quality of the entries and can’t wait to make the big announcement. It’s the launch of our inaugural (diamond jubilees don’t come around every day after all) Forman’s Jubilee Bake Off. We picked 9 of our favourite blogging bakers and sent them a mystery box of the finest ingredients we could lay our hands on. Handball Competition – ended early

Sorry to all of you who would still like to enter our competition to win tickets to the London Handball Cup. We thought that as sponsors of a team GB player we were allowed to offer some tickets to our customers, fans and followers but we have just been informed by the London 2012 Organising Committee that is not the case.  Unfortunately we are having to end the competition early so have removed this post.

Forman's trip to watch Team GB Handball

The team at Forman’s has just returned from watching team GB v Angola in their first match of the Handball Tournament. We had no idea what a fast paced and exciting game handball actually is!!

Firstly the Olympic Park is absolutely breath-taking even though it’s still some way off completion, and we had a beautiful, clear, crisp sunny day for our first walk through it.

We’re still not too sure of all the handball rules,but it was a nail biting match with us beating the Angolans 22-20, one of the goals having been scored by our very own Louise Jukes whom Formans has sponsored. Read more...
