Take your main course from…Historic State Banquet for Irish President Michael D Higgins
This banquet marked the first visit by an Irish head of state to Britain, joined by politicians and celebrities. They dined on halibut and baby leeks, tournedos of Windsor Estate beef with wild mushrooms and purple sprouting broccoli in a hollandaise sauce, with a redcurrent-filled vanilla ice cream bombe for dessert.

This lavish banquet saw the Mexican President and the Mexican First Lady dine among high-powered guests. They were served with poached Dover Sole fillets with a wild mushroom and shellfish sauce, noisettes of Windsor estate lamb with sautéed artichokes, coffee and petit fours.
