			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On Saturday 2nd October, please come and join us for our annual free, public open day. It will be a celebration of taste, a chance for visitors to meet some of the best artisan food producers from around the country and to eat the best of British.</p>
<p>Following a hugely successful event in 2009 we are expecting up to a thousand visitors at the historic Fish Island salmon smokery, restaurant and events venue, located just across from the 2012 Olympic stadium in East London. The event will form part of the British Food Fortnight celebrations from 18th September to 3rd October.</p>

•    <strong>Food Theatre</strong> with talks and demonstrations from the Forman &amp; Field family of artisan British food producers<br />
•    <strong>Guided Tours </strong>where visitors will learn firsthand how the country’s oldest salmon smoker produces its trademark ‘London Cure’ smoked salmon<br />
•    <strong>Producers Market </strong>with stalls providing free tastings and selling gourmet British produce to take home - Seldom Seen Farm and Neal&#8217;sYard Dairy confirmed already with lots more to come<br />
•    <strong>Formans Restaurant</strong> serving gourmet British food and drink – as featured in the semi-final of Celebrity Masterchef 2010<br />
•   <strong> Competitions and games</strong> for junior gastronomes<br />

<p>Last year’s event was so popular we have decided to expand it to include a dedicated Food Theatre with more talks and demonstrations and a whole floor for the Market where our producers will be selling their fantastic food. This is going to be a brilliant gastronomic day out.”</p>

<p>On Sunday 1st August artist Isobel Manning ran The Drawing Olympics for children aged 4 to 14 years at Forman&#8217;s Smokehouse Gallery as part of the Hackney Wicked Art Festival 2010.</p>
<p>Young people were invited to come and work in the gallery space and make drawings of the Olympic Stadium on special wooden artist&#8217;s tiles. All of the drawings were entered into a competition which was judged by Isobel and Mr Lance Forman himself.</p>
<p>It was almost impossible to judge, as there really were so many fantastic drawings. In the end Gold, Silver and Bronze prizes were awarded to Tom Fior age 10, Reuben Brierley-Moyes age 8 and Maxine Dannatt age 12. Vouchers for Atlantis art supplies were given to the winners and the chosen drawings will be exhibited in Formans restaurant on Fish Island very soon.</p>
<p>The event was kindly sponsored by E. Abrahams &amp; Co Ltd who provided the wooden tiles and the prizes.</p>
<p>Many thanks go to Lance Forman, William Chamberlain and Marc Ben-Nathan who made this wonderful event possible.</p>

<p><strong><a href="http://smokehousegallery.wordpress.com/">Forman&#8217;s Smokehouse Gallery</a></strong> is the largest in the area and will be showing <strong><a href="http://smokehousegallery.wordpress.com/forthcoming%c2%a0exhibitions/">&#8216;I see myself there, where I am not&#8217;</a></strong>, <a href="http://smokehousegallery.wordpress.com/forthcoming%c2%a0exhibitions/">click here for more details</a>. As well as enjoying and, if you&#8217;re inclined, buying the art on show it&#8217;s also a great chance to come and see the smokery, stock up on our smoked salmon and take in our fabulous view of the 2012 Olympic stadium if you haven&#8217;t yet had the chance.<br />
 <br />
<strong><a href="http://www.formans.co.uk/restaurant/">Formans Restaurant</a></strong> will be open throughout the festival serving a special brasserie menu and with live music performances each day. We&#8217;ll also be running a <strong>Cocktail Canape Bar</strong> to give you a taste of Formans Restaurant out amongst the <strong>Corner Carnival</strong> art and craft stalls on Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 6pm.<br />
 <br />
By no means least from 12 midday to 3.30 pm on Sunday we&#8217;ll be holding <strong>The Drawing Olympics</strong>, a free art workshop for families and children to create their own pictures of the Olympic stadium with the works being judged by a local artist and prizes for the best!</p>
