Lance Forman was presented with the award in recognition of Formans’ 104 year contribution to the East London business community and economy.
The award was presented by Chairman Rita Beckwith at a fabulous gala dinner here at Forman’s Fish Island.
It was also our first chance to put our brand new dancefloor through it’s paces!

SPRINT OVER TO FORMAN’S NEXT MONDAY NIGHT TO CELEBRATE 3 YEARS TO THE LONDON OLYMPICS
ONLY 40 PLACES AVAILABLE – FIRST COME FIRST SERVED.
DINE IN STYLE WITH THE 2012 STADIUM “ONLY A CANAPE THROW AWAY” (The Times)
With building work on schedule London 2012 is planning a few celebrations next Monday, July 27th to mark the beginning of the three year countdown to the biggest show on earth.
But forget all that; we’re inviting you to Formans Since 1905 Restaurant where the real party begins.
We will be serving a gastronomic three course dinner featuring top quality seasonal produce and of course, our award winning smoked salmon – fresh from the kilns that day.
Here’s the menu…
Forman’s Famous London Cure Smoked Salmon – without the old Forman’s factory there would be no Olympic stadium
Beef Wellington – the best British fillet steak housed in a pastry case, essentially a steak-holder – like all of us – stakeholders.
Gourmet Walnut Whip – Former Mayor Ken Livingstone claimed the Olympics would not cost Londoners more than a walnut whip per week. We are out to prove him right!!
The price of the menu is £20.12, with an additional £5 for the Gourmet Walnut Whip ! (price includes VAT – service discretionary)
SPECIAL OFFER: We’re also reducing the price of our Award Winning Chapel Down Brut English Shampagne from £32.50 to the fiscally fitting price of £20.12. There will be no breaking the budget at Formans on Monday.
There are only 40 places available which are available on a first-come-first-served basis, so call 0208 5252 365 NOW or email nicola@formanandfield.com to make a reservation.
I’ll see you there!!
Lance Forman

As part of our involvement with the Guards Polo Club where we are offering our complete picnics this summer we donated a prize for a local charity to them, Thames Hospicecare. We were really touched to receive the following thank you.
“Thank you very much for supporting Thames Hospicecare by donating such a fantastic auction prize, of a luxury hamper for 2 to combine with the donated tickets to the Guards Polo.
On the night of our Ball, combined with the polo tickets, the prize fetched an impressive £150, which is enough money for us to be able to provide 15 hours of nursing care and support to local patients and their families.
As you know, Thames Hospicecare is an independent charity and the care and the services we offer to local families affected by cancer and other life-limiting illness are provided free of charge. To be able to offer these services we have to raise a lot of money each year. It is only possible to make an event like this a financial success by such willing and generous support from people like yourself, providing such great auction prizes to us. For this, we are very grateful.
In total, our profit on the night currently stands at a massive £9,822 with more expected to come in. This is enough money to provide 655 hours of nursing care to those who need it locally, which is fantastic.
Thank you for being a part of this.
With all best wishes,
Thames Hospicecare”

Mid-summer at Forman towers and whilst most people’s minds are on waterside barbecues and lazy picnics we’re turning out attention to Christmas turkey and plum pudding. It’s the time of year when we make our final decisions on which products to add and which to reluctantly drop from our annual catalogue. We’d like your help.

Is there something you have particularly enjoyed this year that you’d hate to see disappear from our shelves? A ham you can’t live without or a pudding that made your day?
Perhaps you’ve seen a speciality elsewhere that’s somehow snuck under our food spy radar and that you think would be perfect for Forman & Field? Let us know!
Or have we knocked your socks off with one of our monthly specials this year and you’d like to order it all year round? We’re all ears!
Our shopping list will be complete within the next couple of weeks so do leave a comment below with any suggestions you may have. We really appreciate your help. Thank you.

Sarah Sysum at BBC Good Food reviews our Northfield Farm Salt Beef in their July issue. She reccomends it served warmed through in a bagel, or should that be beigel as we call them in the East End?
” This meltingly tender meat comes in one piece so it’s easy to slice and serve. Good warmed through too.”

The Luxury Channel recently visited us on Fish Island as part of a program discovering London’s high quality craftsmen. It’s a fascinating watch and wonderful to see the traditional skills still being practised in the capital, from cricket bat and gun making through to the late Danny La Roux’s wigmaker and our own smokehouse.
To view the program click here, you’ll find us roughly three quarters of the way through.
Lance Forman discusses the history of salmon smoking including some great footage of life in the East End. The presenter then takes the “smoked salmon challenge” taste testing London Cure farmed against Genuine Wild smoked Scottish salmon. “The finest smoked salmon I have ever tasted,” he decided.
